Good packaging is the beginning of product success

Coffee packaging commonly used in the market

At present, roasted coffee beans are easily oxidized by oxygen in the air, so that the oil contained in them deteriorates, the aroma also volatilizes and disappears, and then accelerates deterioration through temperature, humidity, sunlight, etc. Especially after multi-layer treatment of low-cause coffee beans, oxidation proceeds faster. Therefore, in order to maintain the aroma and quality of coffee, how to package and preserve coffee beans has become a university question. Coffee beans will produce carbon dioxide commensurate with three times the volume after roasting, so the packaging of coffee is mainly to avoid oxidation in contact with air, but also to deal with the carbon dioxide produced by coffee beans, and then introduce the packaging methods that can be used on the market:

Packaging method 1: gas-containing packaging

The most common packaging, using empty cans, glass, paper bags or plastic containers to pack beans, powder, and then cap or seal the packaging. The preservation is low, and because it is in contact with the air all the time, it needs to be drunk as soon as possible, and the drinking period is about a week.

Packaging method 2: vacuum packaging

The packaging container (can, aluminum foil bag, plastic bag) is filled with coffee, and the air in the container is pumped out. Although it is called vacuum, it actually removes at most 90% of the air, and the area of coffee powder is larger than the surface area of coffee beans, and even the remaining little air is easily combined with the powder and affects the flavor. The roasted coffee beans need to be left for a period of time before packaging to prevent damage to the packaging by carbon dioxide, and such packaging can generally be stored for about 10 weeks.

However, both of these ways our TOP PACK packaging company can provide customers with different combinations, providing different packaging, individual packaging, family packs.

Coffee packaging design

concept safety concept: Ensuring the safety of goods and consumers is a more fundamental starting point for packaging design. At present, the materials available include metal, glass, ceramics, plastic, cardboard, etc. When selecting packaging design materials, it is necessary to ensure the shock, compression, tensile, extrusion and anti-wear properties of the material, but also pay attention to the sunscreen, moisture, corrosion, leakage, and flame prevention of the goods to ensure that the goods are intact under any circumstances.

Artistic concept: Excellent packaging design should also have artistry. Packaging design is an art that directly beautifies goods. Goods with exquisite packaging design and high artistic appreciation value are easier to jump out of the large pile of goods, giving people the enjoyment of beauty.

Let product packaging spontaneously promote sales.

Different packaging is suitable for different scenarios and customer groups, small plastic bag packaging in order to make it easy to carry, the combination of boxes and bags, usually for the mall display and family combination. In the process of consumer open shelf shopping, the product packaging naturally acts as a silent advertisement or silent salesman. Promoting the sale of goods is one of the more important functional concepts of packaging design.

While ensuring beautiful shape, packaging design must consider whether the design can achieve accurate, rapid and mass production, and whether it can facilitate rapid and accurate processing, forming, loading and sealing of workers.

Excellent packaging design must adapt to the storage, transportation, exhibition and sales of goods, as well as the carrying and opening of consumers. Common commodity packaging structures mainly include hand-held, hanging, open, window-open, closed or a combination of several forms.

COFFEE PACKAGING GUIDE

Frequently Asked Questions

Packaging considerations for coffee brands, roasters and wholesale buyers.

Barrier protection, freshness and practical production all matter.
Why does roasted coffee require high-barrier packaging?
Roasted coffee is sensitive to oxygen, moisture and aroma loss. A suitable high-barrier coffee bag helps reduce exposure to external conditions and supports product quality throughout storage, transportation and retail distribution.
What is the difference between vacuum coffee packaging and valve coffee bags?
Vacuum packaging removes much of the air inside the package, while valve-equipped coffee bags allow carbon dioxide released by freshly roasted beans to escape. The appropriate approach depends on the roast, filling process, desired shelf life and packaging format.
What coffee bag formats are available for wholesale packaging?
Common formats include stand-up pouches, side-gusset bags, flat bags and larger family-size formats. Coffee packaging can also be customized with zippers, degassing valves, tear notches, handles and other functional features.
Can custom printed coffee bags be designed for retail shelves?
Yes. Custom printed coffee bags can combine brand graphics with practical features such as resealable zippers, valves and different pouch shapes. Packaging design should balance shelf visibility with the technical requirements of filling, sealing, handling and distribution.
Can coffee packaging be made with recyclable materials?
Depending on the required barrier and performance specifications, brands can explore recyclable flexible packaging structures, including mono-material options. Material selection should be evaluated together with product protection, sealing performance, printing requirements and the intended recycling system.
